Public Safety Canada Online Child Sexual Exploitation (OCSE) Campaign
The OCSE campaign targets youth in Canada aged 10-17, as well as parents and caregivers of youth aged 5-17. The campaign aims to increase the target audiences’ awareness levels of online child sexual exploitation by increasing public and parental understanding that children (persons under 18) who engage in sexting could be at risk of OCSE; and increasing awareness that OCSE could be happening in your own backyard or neighbourhood – it is not something that happens “somewhere else”.

On this site, you can find featured information and resources for youth, caregivers and educators. The site also includes “Teacher’s Toolkits” under our Resources for Educators page. These toolkits are a series of resources meant to help guide teachers in speaking to caregivers and youth of different ages on the various aspects of OCSE. The youth toolkits are tailored to different youth age segments (10-12, 13-14 and 15-17). The caregiver toolkits are also tailored according to these youth age segments, however they include resources for caregivers of youth under 10 as well. Products within each toolkit include fact sheets, booklets, presentations, posters
Public Safety Canada Cyberbullying Campaign
The Cyberbullying campaign targets youth in Canada aged 12-17, as well as parents, caregivers and educators of youth aged 6-17. The campaign aims to increase awareness of where youth and caregivers can get the help they need to deal with cyberbullying. In addition, the campaign will try to empower young people to take action to protect themselves and others from cyberbullying.

On this site, you will also find resources for youth, teachers and caregivers. Products on the site include fact sheets and booklets that teachers can use in classrooms for youth and caregivers, broken down by youth age group (6-11, 12-13, 14-15 and 16-17).
Copyright and Fair Dealing
Copyright rules for educators have changed significantly in recent years. While teachers have new opportunities to use copyright-protected materials in their lessons, they also have responsibilities. There are limits to what can be copied and communicated in the classroom. Teachers must know what they can and cannot do with the copyright-protected works of others.
As part of Fair Dealing Week 2022, we are pleased to feature the Fair Dealing Decision Tool which helps teachers decide whether "fair dealing" permits classroom use of print materials, artistic works, or audiovisual materials without first getting copyright permission. There are also new infographics, produced to support the teacher's understanding of these important issues.

BC Framework for Continuity of Learning Opportunities
In support of the move to learning at home made necessary by COVID-19 British Columbia School District 23 has produced a document to inform their community about what is being done "in an effort to make sure learning is manageable and positive, and to make sure students feel connected and supported as they continue to learn at their grade level."

Advancing Outdoor Play and Early Childhood Education: A Discussion Paper

The Lawson Foundation is pleased to release Advancing Outdoor Play and Early Childhood Education: A Discussion Paper which is a synthesis of a multi-sector symposium convened in October 2018. The discussion paper shares the major themes of the Symposium and proposes concrete actions to advance outdoor play and early childhood education.
Please join us in circulating this discussion paper far and wide. Note that the French version will be available in a few weeks. If you are able to disseminate the paper through a major distribution network, please advise our Communications Director, Amanda Mayer amayer@lawson.ca.

In November 2016, delegates from over 32 school leader associations (SLAs) from across the globe participated in the third Annual International Symposium on the Role of Professional Associations for School Leaders held in Toronto, Ontario. The symposium explored research on work intensification, generational theory and its influence on principal work and aspirations, and work-life balance and well- being.
This White Paper draws on the work of the symposium and the wider evidence base to argue that we currently face a crisis in principal well-being on a global scale that, without urgent policy and practice intervention, will impact school- and system-level outcomes for generations.
